She was converted at the age of 23 years, and upon forgiveness of sins she was by baptism taken into the Church of God in Christ. She was confronted with many trials in her life. Her concern and desire was as she expressed a few days before her death that her family would meet her again in the blessed eternity. She was not satisfied with an answer that "We want to try," rather she wanted a promise.
October 22, 1898 she was joined in marriage to me, Cornelius B. Goossen. Our married life lasted almost 60 years. My son Jacob and I are thankful that we could take care of mother in the latter days of her sickness, although in weakness, but in love. Four children, 2 sons and 2 daughters, were born to us. Daughter Margaret and son John preceded her in death.
The following remain to mourn her departure: I, her husband, daughter Tina (Mrs. Solomon Giesbrecht) of Winnipeg, Man.; son Jacob of Kleefeld, Man.; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jacob and John of Abbotsford, B. C.; one sister Elizabeth (Mrs. David Thiessen) McTavish, Man., and many relatives and friends.
We are thankful that the Lord has relieved her from suffering and we trust that she is resting safe in the arms of Jesus.
Mother's feelings were expressed in the following verse:
Striving onward, pressing forward,
Life divine to gain,
We will ever make endeavor,
Until we attain.
What detains we'll cast aside,
By Thy promise to abide;
Who endureth, life secureth,
And the prize shall gain.
--Husband & Children
