Walter Cox Services Held Wednesday

Goshen, N.Y. — Walter Cox, who won his first race down the main street of Manchester, N.H., to settle an argument with a rival, died today after building up a national reputation as a driver and trainer of trotters and pacers.

Mr. Cox occasionally came to Bennington to visit friends here.

He was born at Epsom, N.H., September 8, 1868, and raced horses during the early part of his life over New England half-mile tracks. Before joining forces with Cane in 1921 he drove two years for Laurel Hill farm of Indianapolis.

The funeral service was held from the home at noon Wednesday.
