Henry was the husband of Sarah (Sallie) Anna Taylor whom he married in 1844. He was the son of Samuel Brisbin and Miranda Allard Brisbin.

The Civil War Pension Index shows Henry Brisbin's widow, Sarah Brisbin, as filing in Wisconsin on May 20, 1874 for the Invalid Corps and June 7, 1887 for widow's pension.

According to Perry Brisbin, Canada, Medical Information: Required medical treatment for rhumatism caused by exposure from sleeping on the ground at Alexandria, Virginia March-April 1863. He also suffered from heart disease & epilipsy. Military service: August 29, 1862, Enlisted by T. Armstrong at Moores, NY to serve 3 years in 5th Co. G of the 153rd Regiment of New York Volunteers. He was a Private of Capt. Emmett Fitch. Feb. 4, 1864 Discharged at Washington D.C. on Surgeon Certificate of Disability. Retirement: He received a disability pension of $12/mo. For years, his wife and daughters supported the family.

Obituary Notes: Henry Brisbin died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. David Boyd, Friday (May 10, 1907) night at 12 o'clock. Mr. Brisbin was 82 years old, was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. and came here nine months ago from Nelson, Michigan where he had resided for 26 years. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Monday afternoon (May 13, 1907) at 2 o'clock by Rev. J.T. Fish, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Besides an invalid wife, he is survived by six children. Those who attended the funeral from out of town were, Hiram Brisbin of Washington, Will Brisbin of Carter, Wisconsin, Mrs. C. St. Heilar of Wilson, Michigan, Mrs. J. Shufelt of North Crandon and Mrs. Patrick Brisbin of Wausaukee. Henry was of good moral character and respected by the community. His death certificate (No. 115), states the cause of death as "old age". Ernest Wittkopf officiated at the burial.
