"Sleeping Among the Roses"
The angel of Death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Potter Monday night, and claimed their beautiful little daughter, Margaret Elizabeth. Little Margaret was in good health until Monday morning when she was taken sick. Physicians were at once summoned and found that she was suffering from that dreadful disease, meningitis. All that loving hands and skilled physicians could do was done, but to no avail. At 11 o'clock p.m., angels wafted the little soul away.

Little Margaret was born June 29 1909, and died April 29, 1912, being two years and ten months old at the time of her death. The blow to the parents is crushing indeed for them. Their bright and beautiful little girl was almost an idol - not only the parents, but also many other hearts are aching because little Margaret is gone. She was a general favorite in the little town of Orrick and a child of rare ability.

Tuesday afternoon, in the old South Point Cemetery, this little atom of humanity, which an Overruling Providence decreed should never live to become a source of pleasure and enjoyment to a loving father and mother, who would have burned sweet incense on the alter (sic) of childhood could little Margaret have been spared, was laid away. The little body was put to rest with many tears. There is consolation in the thought that over yonder in the Paradise of God, basking in the smiles and sunshine of a Savior who said, "Suffer little children to come unto me.", there where lies his fonded (sic) palms, where flowers of beauty untold bloom eternal; where white robed angels make up the Heavenly Choir and where the grand chorus is never marred by a discordant note; amid all the promised grandeur of that land beyond, where the relatives of little Margaret are watching and waiting for her. What that meeting (illegible) is not given to mortal tongue or (illegible) to describe. We leave it to Him who rules over the destiny of nations and holds the world in the hollow of his hand.

"Mourn not the dead
Though like flowers just opening to the morning rays,
Nipped by diseases' cruel power,
They fell from love's embrace away.
Drop the warm tears, for Jesus wept,
Sorrow shall find relief in tears,
But let no secret grief be kept,
To (illegible) the soul through nameless years
(Illegible) rest in hope,
Where breathes no chill or taint (illegible)
Where falls no darkness of the tomb,
They prove the loving Savior's care
And blossoms in immortal bloom.
Their hallowed dust is washed,
And from the grave shall rise,
Earth shall restore her sacred trust
Made immortal from the skies." – M. B.
