Ronald Wayne Craig was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away on October 31, 2016.

Known for his infectious smile, eternal optimism, giving sprit, intellect and quick wit. Ron never met a stranger and never had an enemy. An honorable man who always provided for his family and would give the shirt off his back to those in need.

Born August 14, 1933, in McAlester Oklahoma, the eldest son of 3 boys, to Ellena Hunt Craig and Ernest George Craig. The family moved to Dickinson, Texas, when Ron was a child.

Ron was the senior quarterback when he graduated from Dickinson High School in 1951. He learned about electricity from his father who owned Ernie's Electric. Ron met the love of his life, Edith in 1953 while she served punch at a Christmas party in Tucson, Arizona. After serving his country in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957, Ron used the GI Bill to start his college career at the University of Texas.

Ron excelled in College, receiving a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1961 while serving as the president of the IEEE student chapter and a Master's Degree MSEE 1973 from the University of New Mexico. His first career position was with Hughes aircraft between 1961-1964 in Fullerton California. He spent most of his career working for General Dynamics starting with (Rat Scat) White Sands NM 1964-1972, Fort Worth TX 1972-1976. His education and experience lead him to job opportunities overseas and state-side, (Peace Owl) Tehran-Isfahan Iran 1976-1979 (Far East) Seoul South Korea 1979-1981, (Convair-corporate director of international operations) St Louis Missouri 1981-1983, and San Diego California 1983-1984 before returning to Arlington, Texas, in 1984.

Ron and Edie enjoyed traveling the world for work and pleasure to Switzerland, Turkey, Israel, Greece, Spain, Kuwait, Hawaii, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines. In the states Ron lived in Anaheim and San Diego, California, Bisbee, Tucson and Oro-Valley Arizona, Chesterfield Missouri, Alamogordo New Mexico and Biloxi, Mississippi. In Texas alone Ron lived in Dickinson, Austin, El Paso, Fort Worth, Arlington and Sherman.

Preceded in death by his mother, Ellena Hunt Craig and father, Ernest George Craig.

Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years Edith Alice Sheaffer Craig and three sons and their families Gary Arthur Craig and his wife, Suzanne of Grand Prairie, Gregory Alan Craig and his wife, Jolene of Rowlett and Grant Arnold Craig MD. and his wife, Kathleen of Sherman. Ron's two younger brothers, Robert and Lynn Craig of Napa, California, and Dan and Carol Craig of Safford, Arizona. Ron and Edie have been blessed with 10 grandchildren: Christopher, Chelsie, Celina, Kameron, Olivia, Nathan, Seth, Mason, Madison & Sawyer and numerous great grand-children.

A celebration of Ron Craig's life will be held at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, on November 5, 2016, with a visitation between 2-3 p.m. and a funeral service to begin at 3 p.m. Waldo Funeral Home 619 N. Travis St. Sherman, Texas.

Graveside services will be held Saturday November 12, 2016 at East Lawn Palm Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
