He married Ida May Shepard on April 16, 1949, in Cheyenne, Wyo. Max served in the United States Air Force from October 1948 to August 1952. After 18 years of working for Cessna Aircraft, he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Ida May, of the home; son, Douglas (Darlene) Reed, of Derby; daughter, Lynn (Alan) Gilmore, of Garland, Texas; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Burl Reed.
Cremation has been chosen. A private family internment will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church and are in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
