Barbara Jane Barnes Moore, 74, of Pensacola, FL, expired Sunday, October 30, 2016, in Covenant Hospice Care at West Florida Hospital after a strong battle with cancer.

Barbara was born on July 23, 1942, in South Orange, NJ, to Bradley Bingham (Bing) Barnes and Charlotte Evelyn Russell Barnes and grew up in Greeneville, TN as well as New Jersey and South Florida.

After graduating high school in Dover, NJ 1960, Barbara graduated from the Centenary College for Women, in Hackettstown, NJ, with a two year Associates Degree in 1962. She was initially employed at the U.S. Army's Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey after graduation and eventually the Hercules Powder Company close by before returning to Greeneville, TN, and employment at Tusculum College where she met and married Richard Bruce Moore in June of 1972. Barbara raised two children with Richard, Edward Joseph (Joe) Moore, and Suzanne Lee Moore. She was a devoted Navy Wife, Mother and Enrolled Agent for H&R Block.

After she and Richard married, she supported him throughout his Navy Career, and devoted her time to raising their children. In 1978, Barbara found an opportunity for part-time employment with H&R Block while the children were attending school. She always enjoyed working on the most challenging and difficult tax returns and eventually became an Enrolled Agent. Barbara enjoyed her friends and had such a loyalty to her clients that she continued to work in spite of her difficulties.

Barbara always said working during tax season allowed her to develop the many new friendships she enjoyed so much and to earn "fun money", which allowed her to travel to meet Richard overseas while he was serving in the Navy. In her "retirement" years Barbara traveled even more to see her children and grandchildren. Memories of years in Orange Park, FL, were easily revived in visits with Joe and Connie. She thoroughly enjoyed Ouray, CO, where she and Rich would spend several summers enjoying new found friendships, but she always came back to Pensacola, FL, for her many friends and the beach where the family would gather in September for "Christmas at the Beach". The family is very grateful that Barbara was able to enjoy one last reunion at the beach in the latter days of September where she enjoyed cheering for her youngest grandson, Everett, catching fish alongside his Aunt and Uncle, and helping his Mom catch Blue Crabs - one of her favorite beach pastimes. Her family and especially grandchildren were the light of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Richard, her children Joe (spouse Connie Mims Bennion) and Suzanne (spouse Michael Thomas Fiorito), her grandchildren Kristofer Joseph Moore and Everett Michael Fiorito, and her brothers Bradley Barnes (spouse Robbie and their children), Russell Barnes (spouse Nancy and their children).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made payable to Baylor College of Medicine for all the support and dedication they provided Barbara in her fight against cancer.
