John Burris Prather, 76, Burris Road, retired farmer, former Kentucky Highway Department supervisor, U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, husband of Patty Cooper Prather, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at his home. He was born September 3, 1930 in Bourbon County, son of the late Joe and Lois Burris Prather and was a member and deacon of the Little Rock Christian Church. John is also survived by three daughters, Deborah (John) Arnold, Montgomery County, Lois P. Hall, Bowling Green, Donna (Emmett) Davis, Bourbon County; five grandchildren, John Arnold, Jr. Shanna Arnold (Donny) Pennington, both of Montgomery County, Patricia Lynn Davis, Austin Renno Davis, both of Bourbon County, Lucas Prather Hall, Bowling Green; three great grandchildren, Dalton, Ethan, Janie Lynn Pennington, Montgomery County; and a sister, Betty Jo (Joe) Turner, Bourbon County. A sister, June Fritsch, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 29, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Rex Graham with interment in the North Middletown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Terry Crouch, Nelson Dunaway, Kenny Mac Hinkle, Harold Soper, Rex Rawlings, and Wilburn Dale. Honorary bearers will be Pete Hinkle, Keith Crouch, Larry Elliott, Paul Lyons, Donald Porter, Gary Flanders, David Dick, Charles Vice, Marion B. Dawson, Sandy Elliott, Karen Johnson, Jane Fritsch Richardson, Cynthia Dunaway, Debbie Whitson, Dr. James L. Ferrell, Dr. Pamela Combs and staff, Dr. Omar Shedd, and Hospice of the Bluegrass staff, Brenda, Vicky, and Johnell. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Little Rock Christian Church.
