Peggy Mae Maner, 79, of Olalla, Washington, passed away on Thursday (Oct. 27, 2016).

Peggy was born Nov. 28, 1936 in Casper, Wyoming to Benjamin and Katherine (Miller) Potter, the third of five children. Her mother and youngest brother passed away when Peggy was 2. Her father was remarried to Emily (Boson) Dady who had four children of her own. The large, blended family moved to Alaska in 1941.

Peggy married Edward "Gene" Burnett of Fairbanks and they had one daughter, LaQuitta Ann. Peggy was remarried to Paul Schroeder in Fairbanks on Feb. 24, 1962. They eventually resettled in Tacoma, Washington, where together they owned the Summitt Restaurant in Puyallup.

She was remarried to Rex Maner in Tacoma, Washington on Jan. 19, 1977. After Rex retired from the Air Force, they started fishing commercially for salmon. They would travel to the Ketchikan and Sitka area of Alaska each spring aboard their boat, "Totem," and return to Tacoma in the fall. They continued fishing for about 20 years until their retirement.

Peggy loved gardening and traveling. They would travel to see family and friends in the fall of each year, then snowbird in their motor home near Gila Bend, Ariz., through the winter. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, LaQuitta Briggs; brothers, Benjamin "Buck" Potter, Neal Potter and Chester "Chet" Dady and sisters, Alice (Potter) Barton, Helen (Dady) Jones and Betty (Dady) Thies.

She is survived by her husband, Rex; sister, Margaret McKee; son-in-law, Jack Briggs and his wife Meribeth; grandchildren, Jacob (Emily) Briggs and Amanda (James) Fulfer; six great-grandchildren and stepchildren, Greg Langston, Rebecca Maner and Michael Maner.
