Paul Kirtis Barron
1917 ~ 2016
Paul Kirtis "PK" "Mickey" Barron (Dad, Grandpa, GPapa) moved on from this earth peacefully, on October 28, 2016.
Mickey was born in Roanoke, Texas, August 25, 1917, to Kirtis Barron and Helen Strickland. Mick was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sue Donica Barron; his brother, Odell Barron; and his sister, Bettie (Bill) Mager. He is survived by his only daughter, Peggy Jo Barron Dailey; two grandsons, Shane (Angela) Hild and Scott (Jessica) Hild; and six great-grandchildren.
PK's family made their way from Texas to McCall seeking a better life. Mick met Sue in the 30's, just up the hill from the Lardo Bridge in McCall, while walking to school. He graduated from McCall High School, and began operating the diesel at the old Saw Mill, providing electricity for the townsfolk. Later, due to the noise, the diesel was moved to Lake Fork Power Plant, a few miles south of McCall. Mickey and Sue were married on November 19, 1938, in Cascade, Idaho. The newlyweds lived in a small one room Lake Fork cottage, near the power plant, where they were often snowed in during the winters.
In the 40's, Mick went to work for the Idaho Power Company. He worked at several IdaCorp sites including: Swan Falls, Twin Falls and Upper Salmon. In 1951, Peggy Jo became a part of the Barron family. In the late 50's, PK was promoted and the family returned to Boise. Mr. Barron, Superintendent of Power Operations, retired after 45 years of service with the company. PK and Sue enjoyed fishing and travel during their later years, spending several winters in Arizona, as snowbirds. Sue Barron passed, in 2002.
"Dear Ol' Dad" was a man of true unconditional love for others. Mick always gave to the less fortunate and was blessed with the ability "to let stuff go". As Mickey and Sue's daughter, I have fond memories of spending long weekends and vacations in McCall, with enough extended family to fill a gymnasium. Plus, PK's grandsons, Shane and Scott, loved fishing and camping and being "spoiled" by both Grandpa and his wife, Sue.
The family would like to thank both the Karcher Estates Assisted Living staff and Horizon Hospice for their on-going care and support. After a private family service, PK will be placed next to Sue, for eternity. In lieu of donations or flowers, contributions can be made to the Children's Home Society of Idaho.
Mickey will always be a "Star" shining brightly in the hearts of his family and friends.
