Lloyd S Celaya was born on June 17, 1945 to Juan P and Martha Childs Celaya. Lloyd was one of ten children born to this couple. His father died in 1968. Lloyd married Lillian Martinez. On July 31, 1972 their second child, a boy, Thomas was born to this couple in Tucson, Arizona. Earlier that same month Lloyd's younger brother, Phillip (19), was shot and killed by a Pima County deputy sheriff in Ajo, Arizona. That controversial shooting engendered a lot of grief and anger within the family.
Tragedy struck the Celaya family again when Lloyd (27) got into an argument with his wife Lillian while the two little children were in the other room of their Tucson home. Lloyd shot and killed Lillian with a 22 caliber rifle. Lloyd then took his own life. Lloyd was buried in the Childs Cemetery next to his brother Phillip. His wife Lillian was laid to rest in the Ajo Cemetery.
The children were raised by relatives.
