Carol Ann "Annie" DeVaney Armstrong , 66, of Springfield, passed away at 7:07 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at her home.

Carol was born on December 12, 1950 in Springfield, the daughter of John T. and Denzil Blankenship DeVaney. She married Allen Armstrong on September 29, 1973 in Jacksonville, NC.

Carol was a 1969 graduate of Lanphier High School and attended Forsyth Tech North Carolina. She was most recently employed with Wells Fargo and formerly employed with St. John's, the State Police Dare Program, and US Airways for 23 years. Carol was a loving, caring, and nurturing person. She loved her family and friends dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, crafting, and party decorating.

She was preceded in death by her father; one son, John Armstrong; and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her mother, Denzil DeVaney of Springfield; former husband, Allen Armstrong of North Carolina; two daughters, Heather (husband, Will Jennings) Judd of Jacksonville, NC and Angela (husband, Craig) Reichert of Cantrall; four grandchildren, Savanna and Cheyanne Judd and Ava and Amelia Reichert; three siblings, Rita (husband, Randy) Standridge, Mark (wife, Kelly) DeVaney, and Tanya (husband, Sid) Spencer; two uncles, Ora and Fred Blankenship; five nieces, Michelle Grimsley, Danielle DeVaney, Robin Standridge, Roxanne Standridge, and Alexandra DeVaney; and several cousins.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.

Funeral Ceremony: 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Pastor Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
