Son of Ross and Zwaantje (Hiemstra) Steele, Milton grew up on an apple orchard in Manson, Washington. He graduated from high school in Manson, then attended the University of Washington for two years. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1969. December 28, 1967 in Waverly, Illinois he married Patty Brown, a fellow student at Palmer College. He practiced chiropractic in Chelan for eight years, then moved to Whidbey Island where he practiced in Coupeville until 2010.
He was survived by his wife, Patty; his children, Nate Steele of Coupeville and Mrs. John (Suzanne) Hoole of Seattle; his brother, Allen Steele of Manson; and his sister, Mrs. Mark (Marcia) Gores of Chelan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin.
