Darrell C. Adkins, 86, of Summerville, husband of Shirley (Brown) Adkins, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Medical University of South Carolina.

Dyal Funeral Home on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 11 o’clock AM. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville.
Darrell was born on April 27, 1930 in Wayne County, WV son of the late Noble Adkins and Monna (Osburn) Adkins. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. Darrell enjoyed fishing and working outdoors.
Surviving in addition to his wife Shirley are: one daughter: Vanessa Adkins Droze (Forest) of Summerville; four grandchildren: Jamie Batten Limehouse (James), Daniel C. Ross, Jennifer L. Ross and Janna L. Ross; four great grandchildren: Loyless Limehouse, Tanner A. Herndon, Dakota C. Garst and Jailey S. Herndon. He was predeceased by his daughter, Penny A. Batten and four brothers, Leo Adkins, Reo Adkins, Harold Adkins and Wendell Adkins.
