He was born on November 30, 1949, in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of the late George W. Morris and Annabelle (Moore) Morris; and married Loi (Davey) Morris on April 21, 1973. She survives.
He retired from the Orrville Police Department as Chief of Police. As a passionate supporter of education he followed his police retirement as a teacher where he would have told you he thoroughly enjoyed "molding young minds". He was employed for the last 15 years as a special education teacher at Norton High School, Norton, Ohio.
Surviving in addition to his wife; are children, Tiffeny (Steve) Miller and Jeff (Audra) Morris; and one grandchild, Theo Miller; sisters, Barbara (Pete) Russell and Opal (John) Ritts. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Morris.
Everyone who knew Wes, understood how many stories he enjoyed telling of his life experiences; growing up in the Ohio Valley as a coal miner's son, going to college, becoming a father, policeman and teacher. He expected the best of the people around him and wanted to be known as a good ol' S.O.B.
A private family burial took place at the Wilderness Center, Wilmot, Ohio. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Norton City School, Attn: Treasurer's Office, 4128 S. Cleveland Massillon Road, Norton, OH 44203. Please note on the check: 'In memory of Wes Morris for use by the Special Education Dept.
