Brenda Kay Steele, 64, passed away on Saturday October 29, 2016 at her home in Memphis, Indiana. She was born on April 29, 1952 in Jeffersonville, Indiana to the late Warren and Dorothy (Kays) Hubbard. Mrs. Steele retired from the United States Census Bureau where she worked in the procurement office. She was a member of the Northside Christian Church in New Albany, a member of the Red Hat Society and a 1970 graduate of Charlestown High School.
Mrs. Steele spent many evenings throughout the years at the ball field supporting her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed being in the company of her family during vacations and family dinners.
Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her brother Gary Hubbard.
Survivors include, her loving husband of 40 years, Mark Steele of Memphis, Indiana; her sons, Mike (Tracy) Baird of Floyd Knobs, Indiana, Barton Steele of Sellersburg, Indiana and B.J. (Alanna) Steele of Charlestown, Indiana; her daughter, Melissa Baird of Cooper City, Florida; her brother Wayne (Sharon) Hubbard of Charlestown, Indiana; her grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Mckain, Justin Baird, Cortney Baird, Nicholas Baird, Haley Vanmeter, Emily Steele, Lyric Steele, and Laila Steele; and her great-grandchild, Silas McKain.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday November 2, 2016 at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
