Alice Lucinda (Hammond) Beckley, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 29, 2016 at University Nursing Home, Upland.
She was born June 3, 1922 in Montpelier to Arthur T. and Clara-Belle (Malott) Hammond and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1943. Alice married Claude R. (Dick) Beckley on May 17, 1947.
Alice worked for Blackford County School District as cafeteria manager for 13 years. She was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, loved music and dancing and her favorite pastime was going to rummage sales. Alice and Dick were also proprietors of Beckley’s Service Station.
She is survived by four children: Philip Beckley (companion, Pam Davis), Gary Beckley, Sandra Dohallow (husband, Tim) and Ricky Beckley (wife, Lou Ann); grandchildren, Lorri Smith (Chuck), Christopher Beckley (Betsy), Chad Beckley (Krystal), Joshua Beckley (Shauna), Elizabeth Dahl, Sarah Dohallow, Shane Beckley (Lynn), Tricia Beckley (wife, Melissa); great-grandchildren, Dane and Carson Smith, Megan Beckley, Mason Beckley, Chynia Parsons-Beckley, Kennedy Beckley, Gabriella Beckley, Tripp Dahl, Ashton Dohallow, Sarah Elizabeth Ann Turner, Shana Beckley, Chance Richardson and Andrew Beckley; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Jesse Hammond and one great-grandchild, Madison Taylor Beckley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St. Hartford City with Ana Ring officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3 and one hour prior to the service Friday.
