Leon Henry Ward, 95, of Smithfield passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield. Mr. Ward was born June 4, 1921 to the late William Henry Ward and Nettie Turnage Ward. He is preceded in death by his wife Ilene Worley Ward, sons, Larry (1947-2002) and William Ray Ward (1950-2015); brothers, James, Richard, Raymond and Newton Ward and sisters, Lola Ward, Mary Mills and Ellen Waters and a grandson.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Casey Funeral Home Chapel in Princeton with the Reverend Percy Coleman officiating. The Committal Service will take place on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Progressive Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Reverend Jack Booth officiating.

He is survived by sons, Mickey, Russell, Donnie, Jack, and Ken Ward of Smithfield; Henry Ward of Newton Grove, and Leo Worley of Durham; daughters, Carol Godwin of Smithfield, Sandra Ward of Clayton and Sylvia Massey of Mt. Olive; 20 Grandchildren; 32 Great Grandchildren; and 8 Great Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Casey Funeral Home Chapel.
