Ed was born November 17, 1934 in Vidette, Georgia to the late Eddie C. Durham, Sr. and Grace Rollins Durham of Brinson, Georgia and had lived in Joplin since 1972.
He moved throughout the country working the early years in the Cable Television Industry, later settling in Joplin and eventually starting his own business of Durham Electric until retirement.
Ed married the late Edwina Hill, the mother of his children, June 29, 1955. He later married Jane Fuller on February 18, 1983. She survives.
Additional survivors include children, Neil Durham and Anita Massey, Joplin, Debbie Dockery and husband, Phil, Baxter Springs, Kansas, Joe Durham and wife, Debi, Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Brandon, Jerod, Kallie, Beau, Jordan; great grandchildren, Parker, Lilly, Tori, Nora, Layla; sister, Ann Mitchell and husband, Eb, Brinson, Georgia, Ronald Durham and wife, Barbara, Eastman, Georgia and sister-in-law, Mary Durham, Brinson, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Durham of Brinson, Georgia.
Ed was like a father to Jane's family, including Cathy Brown and Bob, Peggy Schnelle and Doug, Janet Morrow and Steve, Jill Edwards and Tim and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ed had a passion for hunting and fishing which he instilled in his children-the love and respect for the outdoors. He was a devoted lifetime member of the Joplin Elk's Lodge #501.
Memorial services are planned for Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the services. Ed's ashes will be spread near Spring Creek where he grew up hunting and fishing in Brinson, Georgia.
