"Jewell Ray Carter, 87 of Madisonville, KY passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his residence.

 He was born September 21, 1929 in Muhlenberg Co., KY to the late Joseph Henry Carter and Daisy Florene Carter. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Henry Carter, Jr., one sister, Beatrice Carter Mallory; and two grandchildren, Katie Carter Clark and LeeLou Marie Carter.
 

Mr. Carter was a member of Carters Chapel General Baptist Church, and was a Deacon for over 65 years. He was a retired coal miner and former owner of Carter House Movers.
 
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Carter; three daughters, Pat (Tom) Wilgus and Pam Carter both of Madisonville and Darlene Raleigh of Indianapolis; one son, Ricky (Sharon) Carter of Madisonville; two brothers, Raymond (Juanita) Carter of Anthony, FL and Lee (Nelda) Carter of Hanson, KY; two sisters, Gracie Cox of Providence, KY and Edna (Eugene) Buchanan of Manitou, KY; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Deena) Carter of Henderson, KY, Brian (Stephani) Wilgus of Greenville, KY, Cheryl (Paul) Pitney of Burns, TN, Jeremy (Stephanie) Clark of Evansville, IN, Ricky M. (Pam) Carter of Henderson, Sara (Dustin) Campbell of Whitesburg, KY, and Sharon Kay (Chris) Lane of Madisonville; and 13 great grandchildren, Madelyn and Hannah Pitney of Burns, TN, Ezra and Conner Carter of Madisonville, Joleigh and Jayci Clark of Nortonville, John and Emma Wilgus of Greenville KY, Allen Collins and Aspyn Clark of Evansville, Shelby Campbell of Whitesburg, Lindy Rogers of Princeton, KY and Kelly Reynolds of Madisonville; and 9 great great grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 3 at Carters Chapel with Bro. Charles Lutz, Bro. Ruby Rickard, Bro. Brian Turner and Darlene Raleigh officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery in Manitou.

 Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church and from 9:00 A.M. until service time Thursday at the church.

 Pallbearers will be Joseph Carter, Brian Wilgus, Jeremy Clark, Paul Pitney, Rusty Honeycutt, and Dustin Campbell.
 Memorial contributions may be made to the Carters Chapel Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Church."
