Bernadette Rose Burns
AGE: 86 • Erial

On October 28, 2016, Bernadette Rose Burns (nee Craig) passed peacefully at home with family by her side. Bernadette has been reunited with her beloved husband Robert. Oh the stories she has to tell him.

She is survived by her children Tom (Lori), Nancy Curry (John Pitts), Ken, Andrew (Josephine), David (Gina), Judi Morris (Adam). She was a loving force for her 19 grandchildren: Rosemarie (Mario), Jeffrey (Luba), Jim (Jamie), Drew, Molly (Anton), Will (Steph), Tim, Joe (Erin), Mary, Pete, Robbie, Caroline, David, Nina, Peter, Sean, Luke, Megan and Michael and was thrilled to welcome her first great grandchild Charles. She also leaves behind her childhood friends Doris Alibrando and Rosemary Brannigan, the women of the monthly luncheons, and family friend Jim Curry.

Bernadette was a trailblazer for her generation of women, starting college with six young children at home; five of them under seven. Her desire to understand how students are "wired" led her to obtain her Masters in Learning Disabilities in 1981. She was an advocate for all people who struggle with the structured rules of society. Her ability to never judge but to listen was a gift to all who encountered her.

In keeping with mom's beliefs, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Brain and Behavior Research Foundation 90 Park Ave. 16th Floor, NY, NY 10019 www.bbrfoundation.org.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation with the family on Wednesday evening, 7pm to 9pm at the Ora L. Wooster Funeral Home, 51 Park Blvd., Clementon, NJ 08021. On Thursday morning, 9:15am to 9:45am there will be a brief visitation at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 701 Little Gloucester Rd., Blackwood, NJ 08012, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Internment is at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Share memories at OraLWoosterFuneralHome.com.
