Fremont, Utah - On October 29, 2016, my hero, Jerry DeLoss Jackson passed into the arms of his awaiting family. Choosing to bypass chemo, he survived three months with pancreatic cancer.

Jerry was born August 6, 1943 in Lyman, Utah, a son of Perry LeRoy and Shirley Faun Durfee Jackson. He left in January of 1963 to serve in the Southwest British Mission for the LDS Church. He married Elva Jean Nielson, February 26, 1971 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Jerry enlisted in the Army and served with the Fifth US Army. He was later released to the Utah Army National Guard where he fulfilled his service obligation.

He worked for the Salt Lake County Water Conservancy District as a maintenance specialist.

He held many positions in the LDS Church, his favorite being Executive Secretary.

Jerry loved fishing on the small lakes of Wayne County. He loved camping and hunting with his family and friends. He loved his greenhouse.

He loved the children in his life and he loved his brothers and sisters. He loved serving in the community and fixing what was broken.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife and their three children: Jeanie Lee Jackson (Matt); Jerry Shane (Annie) Jackson; and Haylee Anne Jackson (Collin); his grandchildren: Kirsten Marie DeBoer (Jed); Alexis Jean DeBoer, Britain Harrison and Legion Anderson. Our new arrival, Tazley Donalynn Woolsey is a great-granddaughter; sisters and brothers: Carolyn and Dale Gifford, Elvin and Pauline Jackson; Dawnetta Bolaris; Rhea Stevens; Stanton and Terri Jackson. He has many very special nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Faun; brothers: Denton and Vernon.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Terri Ann Leavitt and Sarah Rees for their tender care. Thank you to those who helped Jerry with his bucket list: Elvin and Pauline Jackson for our cruise to Alaska; Clayne Jackson, Matt Webster, Collin Anderson and Jed Woolsey.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. in the Fremont LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 prior to the services.

Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Fremont Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
