Myrtle Virginia Halfhill Balsley, 79, of Mount Independence, Pa., died Wednesday, February 1, 2006, in her home with loved ones by her side.
She was born June 14, 1926, in Mount Braddock, Pa., the daughter of the late Charles Ivan Halfhill and the late Mary Belle Nedrow Halfhill.
She was a member of the Cove Run Free Methodist Church and worked as an assembler with Keystone Fireworks and MH/MR Outreach Program of Fayette County.
Surviving are a son, Jack Halfhill and wife, Minnie of Mount Independence; brothers and sisters: Edith Lowery of Dunbar, Pa., Mary Helen Halfhill of Mount Independence, Walter Halfhill and wife, Lois of Mount Braddock, Loren Halfhill and wife, Jessie of Mount Braddock, Hugh Halfhill and wife, Shirley of Mount Braddock, Shirley Coleman and husband, Thomas of Mount Independence, Nancy Watson and husband, Paul of Lemont Furnace, Karen Matthews and husband, Paul of Mount Independence; daughter-in-law, Paulette Hardy of Mount Braddock; sisters-in-law, Josephine Halfhill of Mount Independence, Betty Halfhill of Lemont Furnace and Annabelle Halfhill of Perryopolis, Pa.; five grandchildren: Tammy Angel, Brenda Hardy, Kimberly Rivera, Jack Halfhill, Jr. and Eric Halfhill; two step-grandchildren: Chris Bowser and Harry Cooper; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Hardy, brothers and sisters, Jane Ribniscky, Charles Halfhill, Robert Halfhill, Harold (Buck) Halfhill, James Halfhill and twins, Phillip and Phyllis Halfhill.
Friends will be received in the BURHANS-CROUSE FUNERAL HOME, 28 Connellsville Street, Dunbar, Pa, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Additional visitation will be held in the COVE RUN FREE METHODIST CHURCH from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2006, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with pastor Roger Yeager and Pastor Lee Maley.
Interment will be in Cove Run Cemetery.
