UNION, MI - Janet L. George, 76 of Elkhart, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1940 in Clearco, WV to Joe Albino and Sylvia Delores (Boone) George.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Miriam Brown of Elkhart and Barbara White of South Bend; 3 sons, Joseph (Cherie) Nicely of Elkhart, Jimmy Nicely of Mishawaka, and Mikel (April) George of Rainelle, WV; 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ellen (Pat) O’Brien of Bristol and Sandra Fuller of Elkhart and a brother, David (Pat) George of White Pigeon.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Nicely Jr., 2 brothers, Tommy and Bobby George and her parents.

Janet had worked for E.R. Carpenter Co. in housekeeping and attended the First Apostolic Church in Mishawaka. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved dog, “Cupcake”.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday, Oct. 26th at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 pm Thursday, Oct. 27th at the funeral home where visitation will be a half hour prior. Pastor Nick DeCicco will officiate. Burial will follow at Plum Grove Cemetery, Union, MI
