Born Oct. 1, 1985, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and raised in Placerville, Calif., Jacob graduated from El Dorado High School in 2004. He went on to explore careers in construction and music in Sacramento, Calif., New York City, N.Y., and Pittsburgh.
Jacob began working construction as a teenager, doing the “grunt work,” as he called it. Over the course of a decade, he became a craftsman, specializing in the restoration and preservation of historical buildings, designing and developing unique rooms, furniture and outdoor spaces. While the work was challenging, and on occasion led to injury, he took great pride in his pieces that stand today as a testament of his talent.
Always musically inclined, Jacob took up the bass guitar during middle school. His natural talent grew throughout high school and he performed in several bands during his young 20s. He simply enjoyed writing songs to express himself, make his friends laugh and lovingly narrate the activities of his family.
Jacob is survived and loved by his son and greatest joy, Ezra Alan Cook; girlfriend, Sarah Dehler; mother, Sandra Cook; father, Mark Cook; twin brother, Ryan Cook; younger sister, Renee Cook; and maternal grandparents, Gene and Jackie Eakles. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A small family burial took place on Oct. 27 at Westwood Hills Memorial Park."
