James Bruce, 76, of Redding, died at Shasta Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Redding and was a lifelong Shasta County resident.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a lumberjack.
Survivors include son Garth of Redding; daughters Vickey Jimenez of Lewiston and Elizabeth of Miami; brothers Tom of Cottonwood, Donald "Bud" of Burney, Reuben "Jr." of Bella Vista and Landon of Livermore; sister Norma Bathhurst of Sacramento; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were held with family and friends officiating.
