CONOVER. Grace Louise Finegan Sipe, 83, of Conover, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Catawba Regional Hospice of Newton.

Born July 2, 1930, in Allegheny County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Eugene Francis and Hazel Grace Campbell Finegan. She was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Conover, where she had been active as a youth leader. Grace enjoyed camping and was also involved as a Girl Scout leader, and had worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block for over 24 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Eugene Hefner; son-in-law, Eugene "Gene" Hefner; brothers, Eugene Finegan and William Patrick Finegan.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Richard V. Sipe Sr. of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Claire Sipe of Conover, and Rev. Richard V. Sipe Jr. and wife, Constance, of Battleground, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie Britt and husband, Gerald, of Mt. View, Wanda Workman and husband, Ray, of Kings Mountain, and Dr. Crystal Hefner of Conover; grandchildren Marie Sipe, Elizabeth Beisler, Richard Sipe III, Carmen Robertson, Angela Keen, Christina Workman, Keisha Workman, Sara Workman, Valerie Workman, Ray Workman Jr., Allison Workman and Patrick Hefner; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Cayden, Jackson, Richard IV, Kayla, Wyatt, Amanda and Abigail.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Thursday, Oct. 3, at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. The Revs. Scott Bollinger, Richard V. Sipe Jr., and Ken Reed will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. Pallbearers serving the family are Richard Sipe III, Cliff Beisler, Ray Workman Sr., Ray Workman Jr., Doug Eckard, Rusty Eckard, and Alan Keller. Acolytes will be Kim Johnson, Cindy Whisnant, Samantha Howell, and Charles Gaither.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 4420 County Home Rd., Conover NC 28613; Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton NC 28658; or to Corner Table, P.O.
