Archie William Rideout
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Archie W. Rideout on October 23, 2016 at the Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam, NB. Born in Carlow, NB, on May 2, 1930, he was a son of the late William and Vera (Foster) Rideout.

Archie left school in grade 7 to help the family raise his brothers and sisters. He was always proud to have become self- educated and of all his life accomplishments. He joined the Canadian Air Force where he became an Aero Mechanic. After leaving the Air Force he went to work for Pearson’s Garage in Bath, NB as a mechanic for a period of time. In 1961 he embarked on a career with the Department of Fisheries and after 33 years of employment, he retired from there in 1994.

Archie was a member of the Roman Catholic Church as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. A very avid Ham Radio Operator and Musician (love of Blue Grass), he played in many bands and for 8 years held Archie’s Music Jam at Mazerolle Settlement, where he was very actively involved in the community of Upper Kingsclear. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed years hunting and fishing and he began a worm farm in the basement, eventually moving it to his garage.

Survived by his wife Mona; children Annette Rideout, Pamela Kitchen (Robert); grandchildren Brady and Caleb Kitchen; brothers Doug, Bill (Ruth), Ivan (Nancy), Jasper, Harvey, Lonnie (Gwen); sisters Alice (Fred), Betty (Gill); brother-in-law Lewis; sisters-in-law Dianna, Sheila; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Clara, brothers Allen, Stephen, sister-in-law Debbie.

Although there will be no visitation, a celebration of Archie’s life will be held from the Kingsclear Baptist Church on Thursday October 27, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Peter Valji officiating, with interment in the Upper Kingsclear Baptist Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Upper Kingsclear Community Center.

Memorials in Archie’s memory may be made to the Upper Kingsclear Baptist Church, the Grandchildrens Education Fund c/o Investors Group (458-9930) or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted with Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road (458-1885).
