Phyllis A. Hancock, age 80, of Huyck Lake, Michigan and formerly of Stryker, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Community Health Center of Branch County in Coldwater, Michigan. Prior to her retirement she had worked alongside her husband, Bob, in their two businesses in Stryker, Hancock Oil Company and the Hub Market. She had also been an Avon Representative.

Phyllis was born near Stryker on January 24, 1932, the daughter of the late Emerson and the late Coral (DeGroff) Planson. On August 3, 1950 she married Robert Hancock, and he survives. Phyllis was a member of the Sweet Adelines and the Stryker Garden Club. She enjoyed bowling and golfing and was in several leagues.

Surviving besides her husband, Bob, are two sons, William Hancock of Portland, Indiana; Thomas (Linda) Hancock of Indianapolis, Indiana; six grandchildren, Rebecca Hancock, Victoria (A.J.) Stepp, Amy (Jeremy) Wendt, Teresa (Brady) Lantz, Dawn (Lonnie) Rhodes, Joseph (Christina) Freeman; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Janet Simmons of West Unity, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one son, Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Stryker United Methodist church, with the Rev. Dr. James Ernst, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Stryker.
