Ronald grew up in Afton, Oklahoma and graduated from Afton High School. On February 11, 1956 he married Colleen Garrett and from their union came three children. After graduating high school he went to Mortuary College in Dallas and became a licensed funeral director in the early sixties. In 1963 they moved to Pryor and he began working as a funeral director and embalmer. In later years he went to work for Escoa in the Mid-America Industrial Park and worked for them until they closed.
