Daughter of Ernest W. and A. Cornelia Lindstrom, Rosemary attended Iowa State University for two years and then went with her parents to Medellin, Colombia and worked there as a bank teller. She returned to the U.S. and attended the University of Colorado where she graduated in 1947 with a degree in history.
In Ames on August 20, 1949 she married Wallace Eugene (Gene) Manis whom she had met while in Colombia. They moved to Los Diamantes, Costa Rica. Over the years they also lived in Ceylon, Nigeria, Miami, and Thailand. They settled in Gainesville, Florida in 1977 where Rosemary taught English as a second language at Santa Fe College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, and her sister, Cornelia "Nike" Buck. She was survived by her brother, Eugene S. Lindstrom; and two sons, Will of Sammamish, Washington and Steve of Jacksonville, Florida
