Betty Louise Smith Erwin, 80, of Dallas, born on July 28, 1936, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She went to be with her Lord, October 27, 2016. Betty was the only child of Reece Nathan Smith and Evelyn Mae Hamilton Smith. She graduated from Texarkana High School in 1954 and Draughon’s Business School in 1955. At the tender age of 13, she met the love of her life, Arlis Arthur Erwin. They were married on August 25, 1956 in Wake Village, Texas. She worked at several secretarial jobs until 1959 when she became a mother.

Betty returned to the business world in 1974 at Continental Emsco / LTV Energy Corp. as a buyer/purchasing agent, until her retirement in 1997. Since 1963, she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Garland, Texas where she sang in the choir for over 40 years. Her hobbies included sewing, camping, traveling, square dancing, dinner club and reading histories/biographies.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Valerie Nell Erwin Dixon. She is survived by her husband of 60 years; son-in-love Lynn Dixon; daughter Natalie Louise Erwin Alling & husband, Jeff; son Bryan Reece Erwin & wife, Victoria; daughter Yonnie Lanell Erwin Stewart & husband, Jerry; grandchildren McKenzie Louise Dixon, Tyler Arlis Dixon, James Nathan Alling, Jonathan Bennett Alling, Hannah Louise Alling, Sarah Elizabeth Alling, Lane Alexander Williams, Callie Amanda Erwin, Neely Damaira Williams, Jacob William Stewart, Andrew Carson Stewart and great-grandson Jesse Sage Carter and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 3, 2016 at First Presbyterian of Garland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Garland, Texas.
