Mort was born March 16, 1931 at Loysville to the late Hugh A. and Izora (Gutshall) Loy. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years of marriage, Jennie Rebecca (Comp) Loy, a son, Tim E. Loy, two granddaughters, Krista Beth Loy, Rebecca F. Campbell and two brothers, Paul Loy and Dean Loy.
He was a retired self employed contractor specializing in agricultural construction and township bridge work all over Perry County and was a dairy farmer.
He was a well known baseball player in local sandlot leagues and was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals. He met Ted Williams on the train ride down to spring training.
He was a life member, elder, trustee, member of the sunday school of the Centre Presbyterian Church and cemetery trustee of Centre Presbyterian Cemetery.
Surviving are his three children, Bill C. Loy and his wife Joyce; Nancy E. Campbell, all of Landisburg; Ted A. Loy and his wife Robin of Millerstown, a brother, Tom Loy of Loysville and Dorothy "Dot" Hall and her husband Roy of New Bloomfield, seven grandchildren, Alex, Jennifer, Sarah, Rachael, Sam, Kerri, Andy and a great-grandson, Maddox Zeiders.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the Centre Presbyterian Church, 3912 Freeman Hollow Road, Loysville, Pa. 17047 with the Rev. Trevor A. Lightner officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday in the church.
Burial will be in the Centre Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Fellowship will follow the burial in the church fellowship hall.
The family desires that memorial contributions be made to the Centre Presbyterian Church, 3912 Freeman Hollow Road, Loysville, Pa. 17047.
Arrangements are being handled by the Nickel Funeral Home, P. O. BOX 910, Loysville, Pa. 17047.
