Published in The Sierra Vista Herald (October 29, 2016):

Mary E. Timmons, 81, of Whetstone, Arizona, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on August 18, 2016, in Tucson, Arizona, after a brief illness.

The youngest of Carl and Anna (Hays) Mulligan's nine children, Mary was born on January 3, 1935, in Bridgehampton, Long Island, New York. She graduated from Bridgehampton High School, where she was active in sports, band, theatre, and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Mary went on to attend Oneonta State College prior to meeting the "love of her life," George B. (Tim) Timmons, who preceded her in death. Mary and Tim were married on February 23, 1957, in her hometown of Bridgehampton and remained there until 1958, when Tim, a member of the US Army, was transferred to Wellfleet, Massachusetts.

From Wellfleet, Mary began her adventure to the desert Southwest. In December 1960, Mary and Tim were reassigned to Fort Huachuca, Arizona, where they drove with their four young children, two dogs, and a cat. There Mary would remain for the rest of her life, but Bridgehampton was always "home" in her heart.

In 1965 Mary started her career in banking as a bookkeeper at the First National Bank of Arizona. After 30 years of service, Mary retired as branch manager. During her career she touched many lives and made many lifelong friends. She mentored a number of young women throughout the years, who in turn went on to establish their own careers in banking.

In her retirement, Mary spent time doing the things she loved. She spent hours playing and planting in the yard around her home, searching the Web for long-lost relatives, and financially supporting her "friends" at QVC. She also fulfilled a lifelong dream of spending time in her beloved country of Ireland. Mary was known to dote on her pets, all of which provided her with many years of unconditional love, laughter, and happiness.

Mary is survived by her four children: Timothy S. Timmons (Cheryl), K. T. Oxford (Burt), Karla A. Timmons (Randall), Tamela T. Czechowski (Michael); four grandchildren: Ashley, Andrew, Samuel, and Aubrey; two great grandchildren, Henry and Evan; and her beloved four-egged children: Trinity, Razz, and Mattie.

Services and interment will be private at the Fort Huachuca Cemetery.
