Elmer F. Vann, 89, died Dec. 25, 2006 in Okeechobee, FL. He was born in Vero Beach, and lived in Okeechobee for four years, coming from West Palm Beach.

He worked for Vero Beach Municipal Power Co. He retired after 30 years with South Florida Flood Control District. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He attended Vero Beach High School.

Survivors include his son, Richard Vann of West Palm Beach; daughters, Carol Layman of Stuart, Pamela Brundage of Chipley and Julia Houston of Leesburg, GA; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Vann.

SERVICES: Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Dec. 29 at Bass Okeechobee Chapel, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Entombment wll be at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.

Arrangements are by Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Crematory.
