LINCOLN — Harold W. Lawrence, 72, of Lincoln died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Palmer, with military honors by Burton Beyer American Legion Post 120 of Palmer. The Rev. Bruce Phillips will officiate.

Mr. Lawrence was born Nov. 15, 1943, in Fayetteville, Ark., to John and Juanita (Snow) Lawrence. He moved to Palmer at a young age with his family. He attended Palmer Schools where he received his diploma.

Harold served in the United States Navy for a short time and then received an honorable discharge. After his military career, he first moved to Arkansas and then to Palmer, and did farm work for Lyle Spilger.

He received his AI certification in Wisconsin and moved to Branson, Mo., where he was doing excavation work. Harold then began working as a truck driver for Swift before working at Consolidated Blenders near Abbott.

He again moved to Branson and was employed in the kitchen of the Branson Belle Showboat. He was united in marriage to Donna Grief in April 1989 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Harold returned to Nebraska and worked for Gary Smith Construction in Grand Island and then worked at Paulsen Construction of Cozad until his retirement about 10 years ago.

Harold was very family oriented, taking a big interest in their activities. He enjoyed fishing, doing small engine work, the outdoors, traveling, listening to old western and country music. He loved the Huskers.

He was also a certified locksmith. Harold was a lifetime member of the North American Fishing Club and the Locksmith Association.

Survivors include three sons and spouses, Richard and Jimmy Lawrence of Washington and Robert and Jody Lawrence of Ord; seven daughters and spouses, Juanita Lawrence, Janette Hutchinson and Nataunia Stanton of Washington, Melinda and John Soerjawitaka of Lincoln, Jody and Jason Vculek of Fairbury, Kylee Lawrence and her boyfriend, Cory Clark, of Hebron and Sydney Henselin of Norfolk; 32 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles “Chick” and his wife, Gladys Lawrence, of Vallejo, Calif., and John Lawrence of Grand Island; and a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dennis Neemeyer of Kearney.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; sister, Rosemary Spilger; and three brothers, Robert, Billy, and Byron Lawrence.
