Son of Mervin and Geraldine W. Jeffers, Roger spent his early years in Iowa and California, then moved to Montana with his mother and stepfather, Carl Graves. He graduated from Billings Senior High School and in 1967 from the University of Washington with a B.A. degree in English. He married Karen Sue Prescott on October 28, 1967 in Tacoma and they moved to Whidbey Island in 1976. He worked with the Edmonds School District as supervisor of the Work Adjustment and Assessment program.
He was survived by his wife, Karen, of Whidbey Island; his son and daughter, Sam and Elizabeth, both of Whidbey Island; his mother, Geri Graves, of Billings, Montana; his brother, John Graves, of Bozeman, Montana; and his sister, Kathryn Fust, of Billings.
