Frances Helen (Sinemus) Olson, 84, of New Alexandria, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, in Greensburg. She was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Derry. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Mary (Gamble) Sinemus. Francie retired as a charge nurse from Torrance State Hospital after having served there for 35 years in various nursing roles. After her retirement, she volunteered for Excela Health-Latrobe Hospital in the Little Shop and at the Palace Theater in Greensburg as an usher. She also cared for many family members and friends in times of need, especially at the ends of their lives. Francie was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Derry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Olson-Merichko; two stepdaughters, Karen and Kathi Olson; her twin sister, Florence; brother, Herman; and sister, Mary Edna Neighley. She is survived by her sons, John, Jeffrey and Jeremy (Rebecca) Olson; stepdaughter, Viola Olson; son-in-law, Scott Merichko; sisters, Rose Planinsek, Anna Mae Yordy and Linda (Larry) Deal; brothers, Lewis, Lonnie (Judy), Victor (Cass) and Ronald (Linda) Sinemus; grandchildren, Joanna and Jacob Pernick, Joell Olson and Tyler, Dalton and Bailie Merichko; great-grandchildren, Myah and Makenna Buchinsky; and many nieces and nephews, especially Jim and Dana Sinemus.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington St., New Alexandria. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Derry with Pastor John Tollner officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery in Unity Township.
