He married Bernita Anna Korbe on Oct. 24, 1951 in Munjor. She preceded him in death Feb. 11, 2014.
He was a farmer and worked as a mechanic at various dealerships including Herb Lundgren Chevrolet and James Motor Co. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays. He enjoyed woodworking, ornamental metal work, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and telling them about the old days. He never met a stranger and always had time for a visit.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Younger and wife, Sharon, and Warren Younger, all of Hays; three daughters, Rebecca Zimmerman and husband, Dennis, Claudia Leiker and husband, David, all of Hays, and Olinda Power and husband, Gary, Salina; a brother, Elmer Younger, Hays; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Martina Windholz, Albina Stecklein and Mildred Windholz.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hays; burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, both at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine, Hays, KS 67601. There will be a combined vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Rooks County Health Center in care of the funeral home.
