Lora attended Columbia Hall Grade School and Deepwater High School. She was married to Noland L. Thompson on August 29, 1956, in Deepwater. He preceded her in death in July 2002. Three daughters were born to this union, Sheri Ann Strouse, Sheila Gaye McDonald and Cynthia Lea Ryles. Lora was a CMA working in home care and Chastain's and Clinton Healthcare nursing homes for 25 years, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, Noland, Lora was also preceded in death in September 2007 by her daughter, Sheila Gaye McDonald; her parents, Clarence and Mary Knisely; brother, Alvin, in 1950; sister, Elizabeth in 2001, and a niece, Karen, in 1957.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sheri Strouse and Cynthia Ryles, both of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Hayli Strouse Beebe, Trent Thompson, Thomas Lamar Strouse II, Trena Wray McDonald, Lora Denise McDonald, Matthew Thompson, Michael McDonald and Dillon Strouse; 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Dale Knisely of Shawnee, Kansas.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, February 7 at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton.
