Laura Mae Bankston Morse, 86, of Ponchatoula was born on January 26, 1930 and died October 26, 2016 at the Landmark Nursing Home after a long illness. Laura Mae was born in Ponchatoula, the daughter of the late Martin and Etta Mixon Bankston. She will be remembered as a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmother and aunt. Laura Mae enjoyed life and loved to travel, play golf, playing cards with friends, reading and the occasional casino entertainment, but especially loved spending time with her extended family. She was an active member of the community and of the Happy Woods Church of God.

Laura Mae served professionally as a bookkeeper, secretary / receptionist for Park View Nursing Home, Dr. M J Schanzbach vision clinic and Southeastern University food service department

Laura Mae is survived by her loving and dedicated husband Charles Morse, two sons, Sam Voorhies and Martin Morgan, a daughter, Janet Voorhies; four grandchildren, Chaz Morgan, Seth, Sean and Jessica Voorhies; four great-grandchildren, Noah Mayeaux, Brett and Coy David Morgan and Vera Rose Voorhies, and many nieces and nephews.

Laura Mae was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Bezard and Lou Bankston and a brother, George Bankston.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 8:00am for family then 8:30am to 11:00am for public with an 11:00am service Celebrating and Honoring Laura Mae's Life in the Chapel at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Interment will follow at New Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
