George served as a Sergeant, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in New Haven County, Connecticut and was a member of the Connecticut National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, from New Haven, Connecticut. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Firemen and also as Single, without dependents.

George was "Killed In Action: near the Leyte Valley, Philippines during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
