Wanda Marie Hebert LeBoeuf
(February 23, 1932 - October 25, 2016)

Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Wanda Marie Hebert LeBoeuf, 84 years, who died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph.

She will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Paul Bienvenu officiating the services.

Born February 23, 1932 in Andrew, LA, Wanda was the second of four daughters of the beloved Rexie and Olite (Meaux) Hebert.

She led a long, fulfilling life dedicated to her family, friends, faith, and work. She and her late husband, Walter J. LeBoeuf were married for 60 years. For ten of those years Wanda worked as a secretary at LA Frey & Sons while Walter completed his education at SLI. She spent another 30 years as co-owner of their family owned Dixie Home Supply in Kaplan. Wanda was also active and a proud member of the Homemakers Club, Catholic Daughters, the Altar Society, and her local block rosary.

As a part of their RV club, Wanda and Walter had a good fortune of traveling much of the United States and Canada, making life-long friends along the way. One of the highlights was a trip across the border to Nova Scotia where they were able to speak French with the local Acadian descendants.

Sharing these stories of people and places always put a smile on her face. Anyone who knew Wanda would say that she was a people person and always cherished the time spent with those that she loved. As a thoughtful, loving, and giving person by nature, she was always finding ways to brighten up her family and friends’ with a phone call, birthday, holiday, or a simple “Thinking of You” card in the mail along with a care package tailored to that special family member or friend. Holiday meals or baking her famous sweets were among her favorite activities and she was known to begin preparations at a minimum of two weeks in advance to ensure the gatherings were special. Rarely did family members and friends leave on an empty stomach and without an extra serving or two of something tasty in hand. She and her three sisters were known by family and friends to be excellent cooks. Many of Wanda’s best recipes have been passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Wanda’s greatest love was that of her family, which was attested by the countless photos in her home of her four children, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her son, Darwin LeBouef of Kaplan; two daughters, Annette and her husband, Steve Ruiz of Prairieville and Pamela and her husband, Patrick Colella of Windsor, Canada. She was known as “Mawmaw” to her ten grandchildren that she dearly loved, Quinten LeBouef, Talli Broussard, Jacob Ruiz, Miranda Ruiz, Nicole Ruiz, Josh Marceaux, Chad Marceaux, Paul Marceaux, Kye LeBoeuf, and Gabriel Colella. She also had the immense pleasure of being great grandmother to the following precious children, Noah LeBouef, Valerie LeBouef, Ava Ruiz, Reese Ruiz, Brody Jacobs, Ani Broussard, Hunter Marceaux, Gavin Marceaux, and Brooke Marceaux. She is also survived by one son-in-law, Keith Marceaux.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Joseph LeBoeuf; her parents, Rexie Hebert and the former Olite Meaux; one daughter, Rodessa Marceaux; one great granddaughter, Rochelle Hollier; and her three loving and beautiful sisters, Ouida Duhon, Shirley Mhire, and Joyce Broussard.

In short, Wanda Marie LeBoeuf was a loving, giving, and cherished member of the Hebert and LeBoeuf families.

The family would like to thank the staff of Maison de Lafayette Nursing and Rehabilitation and The Carpenter House of St. Joseph for their loving care.
