Phyllis passed away on Octobber 21, 2016. She was born to William and Marjorie Sims.

She worked for the Lansing School District as an Art and Adult Education teacher for almost 30 years; retiring in 2005. Phyllis held Bachelor and Master Degrees from Western Michigan University.

Phyllis enjoyed arts and crafts, pottery, sewing, gardening, cooking, traveling and fall color tours. Some of Phyllis’s favorite hobbies included watching classic westerns, especially Gunsmoke, cooking shows, and reality shows.

Phyllis was a member of the American Indian Relief Fund, Christian Appalachian Project and a honorary member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father William, mother Marjorie and brother Vance.

She leaves to mourn, her brother Ralph, sister in law Linda Sims-Wright, nieces Vanessa and Christina, a nephew Seýoue, and great nieces Finesse, and Ava Rose, great nephews Christopher and Gabriel, great great nephew Michael and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral Services were held Monday, October 31, 2016 at Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, with Rev. Charles Corley officiating. Interment was in Egelston Twp Cemetery, Muskegon, MI, Monday.
