Mrs. Gwendolyn Ingram Thomas "Sis" Barnes, a resident of Lanett, AL died Wednesday, 19 Oct 2016 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL. She will truly be missed.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, 27 Oct 2016 from Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Lanett, AL with Rev Vernon Carter, Officiant and Bishop Donald Lancaster, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Lanett, AL. Davis Memorial Mortuary of Valley, AL is directing.

Public viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, 26 Oct 2016 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Davis Memorial Mortuary Chapel.

Gwendolyn Ingram Thomas Barnes was born on 20 Aug 1949 in Chambers County, AL to the late Lillian Ingram Dunn and Zebedee Thomas, Sr. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Mount Hermon Baptist Church where she served with the Matrons Ministry.

“Sis” as she was affectionately called, was a lovable mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and gardening.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; and three brothers, Zebedee Thomas, Jr., John Henry Thomas and Jimmy Thomas.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Barnes, Jr., Valley, AL; one daughter, Tameka Barnes, Valley, AL; three sons, Lerone (Tesa) Thomas, West Point, GA, Terrance (Angelia) Thomas and Howard (Fredrica) Barnes both of Lanett, AL; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Ann (Sammy) Cleveland, Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Tommy Woody and Willie (Sarah) Dunn both of Lanett, AL; six sisters-in-law, Shirley Williams, Beverly Smith, Darlene Barnes, Letha Barnes and Shirley Barnes all of Lanett, AL and Martha Thomas of North Carolina; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
