Edith M. Birkett, 99, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch.
Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Friday, October 28, 2016 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Liberty. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hendersonbarkerfuneralhome.com. A memorial fund has been established.
Edith was born November 18, 1916 in Springdale, Iowa the daughter of Axel and Karen M. Jensen. She was a graduate of West Branch High School. On January 24, 1947 she was united in marriage to Lindley Birkett in Moline, Illinois. Edith had been employed with NCS in Iowa City for many years.
She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Liberty, American Legion Auxiliary and for many years was a member of the bridge Club. She enjoyed dancing, camping and the time she and Lindley spent in Phoenix.
Survivors include three Daughters: Karen Birkett of Morning Sun, Iowa, Patricia (Jim) Kirby of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Donna (Craig) Maurer of West Liberty. Six grandchildren: Laurie Dauber, Lisa and Tim Stull, Nicole and Edward Green, Timothy and JoAnn Maurer, Jenifer and Zach Weaver, Christopher and Tara Maurer. 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren also survive.
Her parents, husband Lindley, son William, grandson Daniel, great grandson, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.
