JULIA “NANNY” BARKER, age 85, a resident of Irving, Texas formerly of Wiscasset, Maine, died Monday, December 26, 2005 at home.

Born June 27, 1920 in Madison, Maine to Charles and Emma Knapp Gerrish, she married Richard Barker May 13, 1939 in Brewer, Maine. Julia was a food service specialist at Wiscasset Middle School for 34 years. She was a longtime dedicated member of the local grange in Wiscasset and a member at the First Congregational Church there. Bingo was a favorite past-time of Julia’s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a son-in-law, Donald G. Nadeau. Survivors include her daughter, Carol E. Nadeau of Irving; grandchildren, Doreen Nadeau of Irving, Kellie Pence and husband David of Denton, Dale Nadeau and, Denise James and husband Heath, all of Irving; great-grandchildren, Schinnell Haibon of Denton, Brittany Cavnor of Irving, Joshua Waddell and Cody Pence, both of Denton.

Visitation 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside Service 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. Pastor Bobby Joe Raper officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
