Mr. Philip E. Owens Sr, 73 of Hanover died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the South SHore Hospital in Weymouth after a short illness. The son of the late Philip J. and Mary M. Boyle Owens, he was born in Boston on July 27, 1932. He was raised and educated in Boston and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. Mr. Owens served in the Mass National Guard for 14 years. Mr. Owens retired in 1988 as a Starter for the MBTA. He was a member of the Carmens Union and enjoyed traveling to Aruba and Florida. Husband of the late Marilyn L. William Owens, he is survived by 3 sons, Philip E. Owens Jr, John J. Owens Detective, Hanover Police Department and Richard D. Owens all of Hanover, 2 daughters, Carole Malloch of Plymouth and Janice Langton of Norton, 1 brother, Kenneth Owens of Mansfield, 1 sister, Maureen Roach of Milton, 12 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He was the brother of the late William Owens. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 9 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover Street, Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Hanover Center Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington Street, Rte 53 in HANOVER on Sunday from 2-6 PM.
