Russell C. “Rusty” McCoy, 64, of Kokomo, passed away at , October 23, 2016, at North Woods Village. Rusty was born August 17, 1952, in Kokomo, to the late Russell L. and Cecelia (Morris) McCoy. Rusty married the love of his life Leanna Horton on May 22, 2012. They had actually been together for over 30 years.
A self-employed carpenter for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He was what you call a total outdoors-man. He always said he could catch a shark out of a puddle. Rusty was also very involved with his children and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Leanna McCoy; his children, Heidi Dotterer, Russell “Duffy” McCoy (Edna), Josh McCoy (Katie), and Jeffery Johnston “Scotty” (Ashley); sister and brother, Glenda Vogt (fiancé Brian) and Randy McCoy; two brothers-in-law, Rick Horton and Scott Horton (Kathy); his mother-in-law, Nancy Kindig; nine grandchildren, Amy, Clayton, Heaven, William, Waren, Raelynn, Nolan, Eve, and Ava; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; along with his best friends, Marty Elshire (Louann) and Bobby McClish (Rita).
Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dawn and Linda McCoy; a granddaughter; and a niece.
