Carl W. Barker Sr., 69 of Sulphur Rock died Monday, October 24, 2016. He was born August 28, 1947 at Rivervale, Arkansas to C. W. and Wanda Moye Barker. He was a U. S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam and worked several years for Dowell Transport in Batesville. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Batesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Wilma Matthew.

Survivors include his wife LaVonne Barker of the home; sons, Chuck Barker of Batesville and Carl Barker Jr. of Sherwood; daughter, Marcie Douglas of Charlotte; brothers, Charles Barker of Cave City, Bill Barker of Batesville; Tom Tarkington of Fort Smith and Virgil Tarkington of Jacksonville; sisters, Sue Wilson of Holland, Michigan, Margaret Jones and Bonnie Nance both of Batesville; 6 grandchildren;1 great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Ben Ryan and Bro. Bobby Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Sulphur Rock Cemetery located at Sulphur Rock with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Noah Barker, Kasey Barker, Shawn Douglas, Joey Richardson, Bill Barker, Michael Taylor and Charles Barker.

Honorary pallbearers are John Clemens, Larry Crafton, Dr. Seth Barnes, Jeffery Painter, Caden Barker, Nathan Douglas and Ray Matthew.
